| Warning Description: Winter Weather Advisory
Warning Date: 10:30 PM EST on January 6, 2009
WarningSum:...Winter Weather Advisory Remains In Effect Until 9 Am Est
Wednesday...
Warning Message:A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am EST
Wednesday.
Low pressure over mid Ohio Valley will track north into the
Great Lakes by Wednesday. A surge of moisture combined with just
enough cold air near the surface will bring freezing rain across
the area into early Wednesday.
Periods of freezing rain will continue overnight. Temperatures
will drop a degree or two...and then remain nearly steady.
Precipitation falling into below freezing air will result in a
glaze of ice on all untreated surfaces. Temperatures will then
start to warm during the early morning hours from southeast to
northwest...allowing for areas of freezing rain to mix with and
eventually change to just rain.
The greatest impact from freezing rain is expected to occur at
elevations above 1000 feet but below 3500 feet...where one to two
tenths of an inch of ice accumulation is possible. For elevations
below 1000 feet...temperatures will hover near freezing...and
rise above freezing sooner. Any ice accumulation will be less
than a tenth of an inch.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
sleet will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery
roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving.
